Carlton Hill Primary School in Queen’s Park, Brighton raised more than £2,500 for school supplies at its annual Winter Fair this weekend. The school’s PTA welcomed around 400 children, parents and local community members to the fair, held on Sunday 08 December.

To assist with fundraising, the local McLaren site team at Edward Street Quarter donated a big-ticket raffle item – a new Samsung tablet. A Christmas tree and decorations, as well as supplies for a Christmas Lunch were donated by McLaren customer and Edward Street Quarter developer, First Base.

A pupil from Carlton Hill school was the lucky winner of the Samsung tablet, which was an extra special prize as he won it on his birthday.

Tamsen Beer, Head Teacher at Carlton Hill Primary School, commented: “We’re thrilled that this year’s Winter Fair was such a success. The raffle drew crowds keen to win something special and the tablet proved to be very popular. Thank you to everyone who came together to make this special day possible.”

Stephen Adams, Operations Director at McLaren said: “We are committed to supporting the communities in which we work and making a difference to the lives of local people. The Winter Fair was a great opportunity for us to spread some festive cheer and donate some prizes to the raffle. We look forward to working with the school again in the new year, as part of our ongoing community initiatives.”

Guests enjoyed homemade festive treats and mulled punch whilst children visited Santa’s hideaway to create their own tree decorations and sing Christmas carols. Pupils helped decorate presents to be donated to the Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project and were rewarded with chocolate coins from Father Christmas himself!

All proceeds from the Winter Fair will go towards necessary resources for the children of Carlton Hill Primary School, including the funding of school trips in the new year.
