24th August 2020 Planned works

By on

Over the past few months we have been faced with many challenges, one of which was how best to manage the completion of our works to break out the original basement floor slab which unfortunately required the use of heavy plant machinery which in turn caused disruption to the community, furthermore the nature of these works meant that we were never fully able to understand the thickness of the slab until we had broken into the ground.

As you are aware we have continued with our site operations during the CoVid19 pandemic, during which we made the decision not to carry out any disruptive works during the original lockdown period. In late May / early June when the Government measures were eased, we began the process of slowly reinstating any disruptive works, firstly on scheduled days and then with set hours per day.

In recognition of the disruption these works had caused over this period, McLaren made a decision to halt these works during the month of August, mainly with the view that it would allow the Community to make the most of the expected good weather and to have some respite from the our construction activities.

With the introduction of further reductions in the Government measures, including pupils returning to schools and colleges, re-opening of retail and commercial buildings, more people returning to work and having liaised with local authorities, we are of the opinion that now is a suitable time to restart our works to break up the remaining original basement slab located on the western side of the site.

These works will involve the use of excavators, plant and machinery which will be aligned with our enhanced noise and dust control measures.

On Monday 24th August it is our intention to commence disruptive works between 0900am to 1200pm and 1400pm to 1730pm each day, Monday to Friday.

The planned duration for these works will be 8 weeks however we shall be doing our upmost to complete these necessary works in a shorter period.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding not just over the past year but also over the next few weeks, we will be ensuring that the remaining disruptive works will be carried out as quickly as possible whilst ensuring the safety and well being of our operatives.

Regular updates on progress will be issued to the community via letter drops, community notice boards and on our website each week
